Hong Kong, Jan 10, 2011 (Global Fashion Wire) - Asia's largest fashion event, HKTDC Hong Kong Fashion Week for Fall/Winter, will take place during 17-20 January 2011 at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre to present the world with the latest trends of the fashion industry and a prominent wealth of business opportunities. The fair, which is also the 2nd largest fashion fair in the world, is expected to gather about 1,700 suppliers of garments, accessories and fashion-related products from around the world.

The fair is sectioned into eleven theme zones addressing various needs of the fashion industry while at the same time facilitating an efficient matching of buyers and exhibitors. At its 42nd edition, Hong Kong Fashion Week for Fall/Winter is expecting an expanded Emporium de Mode, where more fashion collections of different designs and details will be showcased.

Another highlight zone is the World of Fashion Accessories, where a fascinating mix of accessories items, including hats, shoes, handbags, gloves, fashion jewellery etc., will be presented to complete looks of different styles.

Among all theme zones, the largest two will be Garment Mart, comprising suppliers of reasonably priced high-volume fashion, and Fashion Gallery, featuring collections of higher quality and outstanding design. Other zones include Intimate Wear, Infant & Children's Wear, Bridal & Evening Wear, Fabrics & Yarn, Sewing Supplies, Trade Services and Testing, Certification & Inspection, which will present quality-related services offered by specialists in this vital field.

A number of countries and regions are showing their confidence in Hong Kong Fashion Week by forming pavilions. Such places include the Chinese mainland, India, Japan, Macau and Taiwan. The Chinese mainland pavilion will be the largest one, expecting over 800 exhibitors with garments and accessories being the main kind of exhibits. At the Japan Pavilion, a selection of nearly 10 edgy fashion brands and quality fabrics will be presented by "tokyoeye", a project that aims at supporting the overseas expansion of Japanese fashion brands.

As worldwide industry players gather in town, the fair is also the perfect platform to get the latest news of the fashion industry. A programme of seminars will cover trend forecasting by international firms such as Fashion Snoops and Stylesight, as well as branding and garment production by two speakers from an international fashion brand from Paris.

There will also be several displays at the fairground to further spice up this important event. The Hong Kong Research Institute of Textiles and Apparel will display a collection of outfits made from metallised fabrics under the project Functional and Decorative Textile Products through Sputtering Technology at the Trade Services section. This experimental project aims to examine the properties of textile products treated with the newly developed sputtering technology and to develop innovative metallised textile products for high-end garments and accessories. The Hong Kong Fur Federation's Designers Love Fur Collection 2011 and winning works of the Hong Kong Young Fashion Designers Contest 2011, which will be selected at the show on 18 January, will also be displayed at Hall 1 Concourse.

Taking place concurrently at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre will be another exciting event - the 9th HKTDC World Boutique, Hong Kong, showcasing branded fashion items and designer collections. The natural synergy between the two fashion and garment events is expected to provide buyers with extra sourcing opportunities and benefit exhibitors of both fairs with a high buyer attendance.
